The entrance to the Republican Party headquarters in Albuquerque was destroyed in an alleged arson attack and vandalism attempt early Sunday morning, according to party officials.
The Albuquerque Fire Department (AFD) confirmed the incident, stating that fire crews were dispatched just before 6 a.m. and managed to control the flames within five minutes of arrival.
The structure sustained significant damage to its entryway and smoke damage throughout the building, though no injuries were reported.
The Albuquerque Police Department, FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have launched a joint investigation into the alleged attack.
Amy Barela, chairwoman of the Republican Party of New Mexico, shared photos of the damage on X, calling the incident a “deliberate act of arson.” She also noted that vandals had spray-painted “ICE=KKK” on the building’s exterior.
“This horrific attack, fueled by hatred and intolerance, is a direct assault on our values, freedoms, and our right to political expression,” Barela wrote.
Barela suggested that the attack was part of a larger pattern of politically motivated violence, accusing progressive leaders of failing to condemn such actions.

“It is part of a disturbing pattern… fueled in part by the silence and implicit encouragement from progressive leaders who refuse to condemn these acts.”
She also emphasized that the Republican Party is working closely with law enforcement and federal agencies to ensure the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
“We are deeply relieved that no one was harmed in what could have been a tragic and deadly attack,” she added. “Those who resort to violence to undermine our state and nation must be held accountable.”
In response, a spokesperson for the Democratic Party of New Mexico issued a statement to Fox News, strongly condemning the vandalism.
“The Democratic Party of New Mexico condemns any vandalism at the Republican Party of New Mexico headquarters as strongly as possible.”
The statement emphasized that political disagreements should be addressed through peaceful discourse rather than violence. “We firmly maintain that this sort of act has absolutely no place in our democracy. We hope whoever is responsible is found and held accountable.”
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine who was behind the attack.
