Controversial broadcaster Alex Jones has filed a lawsuit claiming that the recent bankruptcy auction of his media company, Infowars, was manipulated to favor The Onion, which reportedly won the bid with plans to transform the platform into a satire site. The judge overseeing the case has ordered a hearing to examine the legitimacy of the auction process.
Jones and his legal team allege that the sale was rigged at the last minute, preventing Infowars allies from securing the assets despite submitting a seven-figure bid.
In a tweet, Jones denied that Infowars was sold to The Onion, stating, “I am breaking the news now,” and linked to a video detailing his claims.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston, Jones’ attorneys accused several Sandy Hook families and Global Tetrahedron, the parent company of The Onion, of submitting an illegitimate bid for Infowars’ parent company. They further alleged plans to misuse Infowars’ intellectual property.
The Onion previously announced that it had acquired Infowars with backing from the Sandy Hook families, intending to relaunch the platform as a satire site. They planned to feature advertising partnerships with gun-control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.
Jones’ allies, represented by First United American Companies—affiliated with his new online store, ShopAlexJones.com—were the runner-up bidders. They filed a formal request for a judge to review the trustee’s decision to award the sale to The Onion and its partners.
Judge Christopher Lopez expressed concerns over the transparency of the auction process and has scheduled a hearing to review the sale before it can be finalized. The hearing is set for next week, leaving the future of Infowars uncertain.
Jones has been vocal about the situation, taking to social media and conservative platforms to share his perspective. In a tweet, he declared, “Deep State Caught Redhanded: Court Documents Prove The Onion Did Not Buy Infowars,” claiming that mainstream media efforts to shut down Infowars had failed.

With the court-ordered hearing looming, the contentious battle over Infowars’ future remains unresolved. Jones is seeking an injunction to halt the sale, arguing that the transaction was a deliberate attempt to undermine his work and silence his platform.
This unfolding legal drama underscores the broader tensions surrounding Jones, his controversial media empire, and the consequences of his inflammatory rhetoric.
