Ben Stiller has expressed his support for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, stating that it’s “time for change.” In a recent impromptu interview, the actor was asked why he is backing Harris and what he admires about her candidacy.
Stiller responded, “I’m just very excited about moving forward and all the energy and excitement around this movement right now. That’s why I’m here—because it’s time for change, and it seems like it’s happening.”
He added, “It’s going to be close, but everyone is motivated to work to make it happen, and she and Tim Walz are just incredible candidates.”
Stiller’s endorsement of Harris aligns with the typical Hollywood liberal stance, and his support was largely anticipated. However, his comments have sparked some controversy. Earlier this month, during a fundraising call, the “Zoolander” star said that his $150,000 donation to Harris’s campaign was motivated by a desire to be Black.
“It’s going to be the first woman president, and that’s incredibly exciting,” Stiller said at the time. “She’s Indian, she’s Black, she’s everything. You can be more than one thing. It’s incredible. I’m Jewish and Irish. I wish I was Black. Every white Jewish guy wishes he was Black.”
Should Harris succeed in her bid for the White House, critics argue that the only change she might bring would worsen the current situation.
