On Tuesday, Joe Biden announced his first in-person public appearance since withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race. The President will address the nation at 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday.
After being diagnosed with COVID-19 last week, Biden has been staying at his home in Rehoboth, Delaware. Despite presidential physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor recently noting that Biden’s symptoms have “almost completely resolved” and that all his vitals are “absolutely normal,” Biden’s only appearance has been a call-in to Kamala Harris’ campaign event on Monday.
“Tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. ET, I will address the nation from the Oval Office,” Biden wrote in a post on X, explaining that he will discuss “what lies ahead and how [he] will finish the job for the American people.”
During the call-in, Biden mentioned that COVID-19 would keep him “out of people’s hair for the next three or four days,” but assured that he was “not going anywhere” and would be “out on the campaign with [Harris], working like hell.”
“I won’t be on the ticket, but I’m still going to be fully engaged,” Biden added. “I’ve still got six months left in my presidency, and I’m determined to get as much done as I possibly can, both in foreign and domestic policy.”
