The White House has announced that Colombia has fully agreed to President Donald Trump’s terms regarding the deportation of illegal immigrants from the U.S. back to Colombia. This resolution follows a heated disagreement between the two nations over the repatriation process.
“The Government of Colombia has agreed to all of President Trump’s terms, including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United States, including on U.S. military aircraft, without limitation or delay,” the White House confirmed in a statement.
Earlier on Sunday, President Trump revealed on Truth Social that his administration had implemented measures such as tariffs on Colombian goods and the suspension of visa services at the U.S. Embassy in Colombia.
The administration later clarified that these punitive actions would remain on hold, pending Colombia’s adherence to the agreement.

“The fully drafted IEEPA tariffs and sanctions will be held on reserve and not signed unless Colombia fails to honor this agreement,” the Trump administration stated.
Additionally, visa sanctions issued by the State Department and enhanced inspections by Customs and Border Protection will stay in place until the first plane carrying deported Colombian nationals successfully returns to the South American country.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro had earlier lashed out at Trump, accusing him of disrespecting Colombia and its people.
In a fiery post on X, Petro said, “You will never rule us. Colombia is the heart of the world, and you didn’t understand that,” while accusing Trump of treating Colombians as an “inferior race.”

Despite Petro’s initial resistance, the swift resolution of the dispute signals Trump’s hardline approach to immigration policy and international relations.
The White House hailed the agreement as a victory for U.S. sovereignty and a demonstration of America’s global leadership.
“Today’s events make clear to the world that America is respected again,” the White House said in a statement. “President Trump will continue to fiercely protect our nation’s sovereignty, and he expects all other nations of the world to fully cooperate in accepting the deportation of their citizens illegally present in the United States.”
This development marks a significant moment in President Trump’s broader immigration strategy, which has emphasized strict enforcement of deportation laws and holding foreign governments accountable for accepting their nationals.
The agreement also highlights the Trump administration’s willingness to leverage economic and diplomatic tools to resolve disputes and achieve its policy objectives.
With the Colombian government now complying with U.S. demands, attention will shift to ensuring the terms of the agreement are implemented without further conflict.
