The would-be assassin who injured former President Donald Trump appears to have had a social media account where he spread pro-Biden rhetoric.
On Wednesday, Gab founder and CEO Andrew Torba announced that Thomas Matthew Crooks might have had an account on his platform, though it could not be confirmed.
Torba wrote:
“Approximately 30 minutes ago, Gab learned that Thomas Crooks, the deranged Joe Biden supporter who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump, may have had an account on our platform. We are unable to confirm that the account in question actually belonged to him,”
“The account was last active on the site in 2021. As far as we are aware, the account did not use the site to send any direct messages. He posted on the site nine times total.”
The alleged account name was @epicmicrowave.
“While the account made very few posts on the site, the majority of them were in support of President Biden,” the CEO claimed. “A number of posts in particular expressed support for President Biden’s COVID lockdowns, border policies, and executive orders.”
Torba listed nine possible posts made by the user in a social media post.
“Didn’t you also think Biden would lose in a landslide? Yeah, I would not be very confident in your election predictions,” one post from February 4, 2021, said in response to well-known conservative influencer, Catturd.
In another post, the user defended Biden’s border policies, stating that “illegal immigrants are not criminals.”
Torba wrote that he was “disclosing this information” despite potential repercussions.
“We are disclosing this information at significant personal and business risk. If the past is any guide, defying the D.C. consensus by publishing the first definitive evidence that the shooter was a Biden supporter – something Democrats and their media allies have tried to cover up and deny at every turn – has a high probability of resulting in significant political and media backlash,” he wrote.
In a separate post, Torba asked his users to pray for him after taking such a big risk.
“Would appreciate some prayer. I’m sticking my neck out big time on this one, but I felt it was the right thing to do in the public interest,” he also wrote.
If Torba’s information is accurate, it could shed light on Crooks’ motives for attempting to assassinate Trump, which officials have yet to determine.
Initially, officials stated that Crooks appeared not to have any social media profiles.
If verified, the posts would confirm that Crooks was a Biden supporter, despite being a registered Republican.
