NEW: Democrats Renew Push to Oust Joe Biden, Sabotage DNC’s Plan For Early ‘Virtual Roll Call’

Democrats in Congress have resumed their attacks on President Joe Biden after a brief pause following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Nearly two dozen Democratic lawmakers have called for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race following his poor performance in a recent debate.

The rebellion temporarily halted after a bullet grazed Trump’s ear at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday. However, Democrats are now focused on disrupting the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) plan for an early ‘virtual roll call’ to nominate Biden.

The DNC has scheduled a virtual roll call for as early as July 21, ahead of the DNC Convention in Chicago, in response to Ohio’s ballot access rules.

Congressional Democrats are circulating a letter addressed to the DNC, arguing that there is no legal justification for an early virtual roll call since the Ohio legislature changed the ballot rules to accommodate Biden.

The Democrats want to allow room for ‘debate’ before the DNC Convention in August, implying their desire to replace Biden as the nominee.

Axios reported:

Democratic members of Congress are reviving a fight over President Biden’s candidacy following a brief respite in the wake of Saturday’s assassination attempt against former President Trump, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: Some lawmakers are uneasy about the Democratic National Committee’s plans to forge ahead with a virtual roll call vote to nominate Biden weeks before the Democratic convention.

“People are back to being angry at Biden and a push to sign on to this letter is going around … the ‘replace Biden’ movement is back,” a House Democrat told Axios.

Driving the news: A letter circulating among congressional Democrats argues that there is “no legal justification” for an early virtual roll call after Ohio moved its filing deadline past the date of the Democratic convention.
