DOJ building evacuated due to ‘unknown threat’ – emergency crews on scene

Potentially concerning developments have emerged just over a week into the Trump administration, as employees at the Department of Justice (DOJ) were evacuated from their Washington, D.C., headquarters on Tuesday due to an unspecified threat.

Emergency response teams, including law enforcement and specialized units, swiftly arrived on the scene to assess the situation. Authorities have not yet disclosed the nature of the threat or whether there is any risk to the surrounding area.

Leo Terrell, senior counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, confirmed the incident in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

“There was an evacuation order,” Terrell wrote. “We all had to leave the building.”

He added: “The building has just been evacuated. Why? We don’t know. It was an emergency order. But I’m pretty sure we’ll find out what’s going on.”

Terrell shared an image showing DOJ staff exiting the building.

As of now, officials have not released further details about the nature of the threat or the scope of the evacuation.

This is a developing story.
