In response to recent civil unrest in the U.K., Elon Musk shared a bleak outlook on the situation, causing a strong reaction from European governments.
On Sunday, Musk posted on X, “Civil war is inevitable,” referring to the violent clashes that erupted in England. Protests against the influx of Muslim immigrants led to violent confrontations with a group known as the “Muslim patrol,” which attacked white protestors.
In Spain, the beheading of three men last week ignited nationwide protests demanding the deportation of illegal immigrants.
Musk’s remarks have faced significant backlash from critics in the U.K., who accuse him of exaggerating the violence. The U.K. government has condemned Musk’s comments, with Dave Pares, a spokesman for Prime Minister Keir Starmer, stating there is no justification for Musk’s remarks.
“There’s no justification for comments like that, and what we’ve seen in this country is organized thuggery that has no place either on our streets or online,” Pares said. “As the Home Secretary said, we’re talking about a minority of thugs who do not represent Britain. In response, we’ve seen some of the best of our communities coming together to clean up the mess and disruption caused by those who don’t speak for our country.”
