How to watch the Harris and Trump presidential debate

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are gearing up for their first, and possibly only, debate of this election season, a highly anticipated event set to take place on Tuesday night. Hosted by ABC News, the debate will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and will begin at 9 p.m. ET, lasting 90 minutes. The event will be broadcast live on ABC, starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Moderated by experienced ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis, the debate will follow the same rules and format as the June presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Trump.

Each candidate will have two minutes to respond to questions, two minutes for rebuttals, and an additional minute for follow-ups. The event will not include a live audience, and the candidates’ microphones will be muted once their response time is up—a rule that the Harris campaign had protested, arguing it could disadvantage the vice president by limiting direct exchanges with Trump.

The status of a previously planned September 10 debate between the Biden and Trump campaigns became uncertain after Biden dropped from the race in July. After announcing her presidential bid, Harris firstly hesitated for the debate but then agreed to it.
