Left-wing influencer William LeGate became the subject of online ridicule after he mistakenly criticized the crowd size at a Kamala Harris event, thinking it was a Trump rally.
In a now-deleted post, LeGate slammed former President Donald Trump, accusing him of having his team cover up thousands of empty seats with black cloth to hide a low turnout. His post read:
“Trump has ‘ordered’ his team to literally cover up entire levels of venues he’s unable to fill with black cloths – to make it appear as if there aren’t thousands of empty seats.”
The issue? The event in question was not Trump’s rally but one held by Kamala Harris, which had a disappointingly small crowd.
As the tweet began to circulate, social media users were quick to correct LeGate, leading to his embarrassed deletion of the post.
“Hey @williamlegate. Why did you delete this?” one user asked, sharing a screenshot of the post.
Another user added, “Hi @williamlegate! Why did you delete this?” along with the same screenshot.
Others mocked the confusion, with one tweet sarcastically stating, “Gotta love those Harris signs at a ‘Trump Rally’,” alongside a picture showing the Harris event setup.
Adding to the Harris campaign’s missteps, the official Kamala HQ X account was caught sharing a video from Trump’s rally in Montana, taken two hours earlier, and falsely passing it off as live footage. The timestamp on the video clearly indicated it was from 7:36 pm Eastern time, while actual live footage from 9:35 pm showed a fully packed arena, contradicting the misleading narrative.
