Six Democrats joined House Republicans on Thursday to pass a resolution condemning Vice President Kamala Harris’s border policies. The vote tally was 220-196.
The Democrats who supported HR 1371 were Reps. Mary Peltola, Jared Golden, Marie Perez, Yadira Caraveo, Don Davis, and Henry Cuellar. Notably, Rep. Golden (D-ME) and some others in this group represent swing districts in their respective states.
The resolution was introduced by House GOP Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
“Today, my resolution condemning Kamala Harris for her role as Joe Biden’s open border czar passed the House. Let me be clear: Harris and every elected Democrat owns this historic border crisis that has turned every community into a border community. It is time that we return to President Donald Trump’s border security policies that put the safety of American citizens first,” Congresswoman Stefanik said regarding the resolution’s passage.
Stefanik also highlighted that illegal immigration has affected northern areas of the country, with record numbers of illegal immigrants on the terror watchlist entering the US through the northern border.
