Vice President Kamala Harris responded to the shooting incident that occurred at Donald Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday. Reports indicate that Secret Service agents opened fire after spotting a man on the Trump International Golf Course who appeared to be armed with AK-47 looking like gun.
In a statement to CBS News, the White House confirmed, “The President and Vice President have been briefed on the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing. They are relieved to know that he is safe. Updates will continue to be provided to them by their team.”
Vice President Harris also commented, stating, “I have been briefed on reports of gunshots near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I’m relieved that he is safe.”
Following the incident, Trump’s campaign issued a statement, saying, “President Trump is safe after gunshots were fired in his vicinity.”
According to reports, Secret Service agents fired at the suspect, who was spotted with a firearm on the golf course. The individual fled after the agents engaged, but was quickly apprehended by law enforcement. The shooter has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, according to Fox News.
