Donald Trump revealed that Facebook founder and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reached out to him after the attempted assassination on his life and praised the former president for his bravery in standing up after being shot. Zuckerberg also informed Trump that he does not plan to support Democrats in the upcoming presidential election.
“He actually announced that he can’t support a Democrat,” Trump said. “He respected me for what I did that day.” For Trump, his reaction of standing up after being shot and reassuring the crowd was “a normal response,” he mentioned in an interview with Maria Bartiromo from Bedminster, NJ.
Bartiromo inquired about the recent incident at Facebook where photos of Trump, with his face bloodied and fist raised after the assassination attempt, were censored amid claims that the image had been altered. The censorship occurred after an altered version of the original photo, taken by an AP reporter, circulated online. Consequently, Facebook censored all posts of the photo, not just the altered ones.
“I was called by Mark Zuckerberg,” Trump said, “the day before yesterday, on this same subject. He actually apologized, saying he made a mistake. On Google, no one called from Google.” Google had suppressed search results related to the assassination attempt.
“Google has been very bad,” he continued, “they’ve been very irresponsible. And I have a feeling that Google’s going to be close to shut down because I don’t think Congress is going to take it. I really don’t think so. Google has to be careful.”
Regarding Zuckerberg, Trump stated, “I believe Mark Zuckerberg, he called me a lot, they are working on it, and I think they fixed it, and he’s not doing what he did four years ago with the $500 million.”
Zuckerberg recently admired Trump, calling him “badass” for getting back up after being shot in the face.
Although Zuckerberg said he would not be endorsing any political candidate, he also mentioned that he would not be supporting Democrats as he had done in the past. In 2020, Facebook suppressed reporting on Joe Biden’s connections to his son’s controversial business dealings. Polls later revealed that many Americans would not have voted for Biden had they known about the extensive overseas influence peddling within the Biden family.
