Shortly after the Democratic National Convention (DNC) concluded on Thursday night, a pregnancy resource center in Chicago was attacked and vandalized with far-left slogans, similar to those associated with the activist group Jane’s Revenge.
Aid for Women (AFW), a center that supports pregnant women in accordance with Catholic teachings and does not perform or refer abortions, was targeted in the incident. Far-left activists, including members of Antifa, have frequently targeted such crisis pregnancy centers. Within hours of the DNC’s conclusion, one of AFW’s clinics in Chicago was vandalized.
The vandals spray-painted messages on the clinic’s windows, including “Fake clinic, the dead babies are in Gaza,” and they blocked the door lock. According to The Washington Examiner, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, in collaboration with an anti-pregnancy-center group called Reproductive Transparency Now, had previously protested at an AFW fundraiser two years ago. Earlier this year, the same group protested in front of the clinic, with news outlets covering the event and revealing the clinic’s location.
Last summer, Reproductive Transparency Now organized a protest against pro-life clinics, using the slogan “We won’t go back,” which has also been adopted by Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign. The group further declared, “We will fight back,” a statement that appears to have been interpreted by someone as a call to action.
The incident comes amid a broader climate of tension around the issue of abortion. Planned Parenthood reportedly stationed a mobile clinic near the DNC event, offering free medication abortions and vasectomies, sparking further controversy.
