Rosie O’Donnell’s adopted daughter, Chelsea, has been arrested for the third time in three months, this time facing drug-related charges after police discovered illegal substances both in her car and hidden in her body.
The 27-year-old, who was already on parole for previous offenses, was pulled over by police in Niagara, Wisconsin, on November 18 due to a loud exhaust system.
According to the police report, officers noticed signs of drug use, including “pick marks” on Chelsea’s face, and requested her identification.
A background check revealed that she was out on $4,000 bail, which had been posted by her birth mother just five days earlier. Chelsea was already facing charges from two prior arrests in September and October, both involving drug-related offenses.
A search of her vehicle revealed the overdose medication Naloxone, and a smoking device with methamphetamine residue was found on her person. While initially argumentative, Chelsea eventually cooperated with police.
The situation escalated during a strip search at Marinette County Jail, where officers discovered a plastic bottle hidden in Chelsea’s body.
The bottle contained hydrocodone, lamotrigine, and Alprazolam pills, as well as a plastic bag of a crystal-like substance, later identified as methamphetamine.
Chelsea now faces five additional charges, including three felonies: two counts of methamphetamine possession and one count of narcotic drug possession. She also faces misdemeanor charges for drug paraphernalia possession and resisting an officer.
Chelsea’s two earlier arrests followed a similar pattern. On September 10, police executed a search warrant at her home in Amberg, Wisconsin, and charged her with multiple offenses, including felony child neglect, methamphetamine possession, and THC possession. Authorities claimed she had stored used hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia beneath a baby’s crib.
She also faced additional charges, including running a location where drug trafficking occurred, possessing unauthorized medication, and disorderly conduct.
After being released on a $2,000 bond, Chelsea was arrested again on October 11 for allegedly possessing meth and violating her bail conditions.
Chelsea has publicly stated that her adoptive mother, comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell, has severed ties with her due to her ongoing legal troubles.
Following Chelsea’s September arrest, she reportedly called Rosie, who refused to assist with bail or court fees. Chelsea quoted Rosie as saying, “You belong in there,” and explaining that she did not want to enable behavior that could lead to Chelsea’s death. “I don’t want to be responsible for you killing yourself,” O’Donnell allegedly told her.
Currently in custody, Chelsea is scheduled to appear in court on December 12. Her legal troubles have raised questions about addiction, accountability, and strained family dynamics.
