Three boys, aged 12 to 13, were shot and injured early Thursday morning after allegedly attempting to rob a man at gunpoint at an apartment complex in Harris County, Texas. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on North Houston Rosslyn Road, just south of Highway 249.
According to law enforcement, four boys, aged 12 to 14, confronted a 25-year-old man in the complex and allegedly tried to rob him with pistols. In response, the man pulled out his own firearm and shot three of the boys.
The injured boys were rushed to nearby hospitals. One is in critical condition, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is currently in intensive care. The other two sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.
The fourth boy involved, along with the 25-year-old man, was detained for questioning. Law enforcement officials stated that the shooter claimed self-defense, explaining that he fired only after the boys attempted to rob him at gunpoint inside his home.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and has yet to determine if charges will be filed. Authorities are also working to verify the boys’ alleged use of firearms in the attempted robbery.
The case has sparked intense discussion about gun violence and youth crime. Community members expressed shock and concern about the ages of those involved. “It’s tragic to see children so young involved in something this dangerous,” one resident remarked.
As investigations continue, law enforcement is urging parents and guardians to be vigilant about their children’s activities and whereabouts. Sheriff’s deputies are also encouraging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.
This developing story underscores the importance of addressing youth violence and ensuring the safety of both residents and minors in the community. Further updates are expected as investigators gather more details.
