Rapper Tory Lanez was hospitalized Monday after being stabbed during an altercation in a California prison in Tehachapi.
According to law enforcement sources and additional reports, the 31-year-old was attacked by another inmate while in the prison yard and required immediate medical treatment at a civilian hospital in Bakersfield.
Though the exact motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, sources close to the situation confirm that Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, sustained injuries that, while serious, are not considered life-threatening. The incident prompted an emergency response, and he was transported off-site by ambulance for further care.
The rapper is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence following his conviction for the 2020 shooting of Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion. That incident, which drew massive media coverage, occurred in the Hollywood Hills after a party.

Lanez was found guilty on all counts, including assault with a firearm and negligent discharge of a gun. He began serving his sentence in late 2023.
Just days prior to the stabbing, Lanez had posted a photo from inside the prison, appearing muscular and upbeat, and used the moment to tease his next music project.
The post suggested he was focused on staying healthy and creative behind bars despite his circumstances. He had even claimed that his upcoming album would drop soon, signaling to fans that he remained dedicated to his career while incarcerated.
However, this stabbing incident may sideline those plans, at least temporarily. While his injuries are not expected to be fatal, any violent prison incident typically prompts internal reviews, heightened security, and possible transfers — all of which could delay or complicate creative endeavors.
In addition to serving his sentence, Lanez is still entangled in a legal dispute with Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston-born rapper has accused Lanez of engaging in an ongoing online harassment campaign, allegedly using bloggers and social media influencers to smear her publicly and distort the narrative surrounding the 2020 shooting.
Legal representatives for both parties have been battling in civil court, and Megan’s team maintains that Lanez continues to undermine her with cyberstalking tactics.
