During a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, Donald Trump addressed the current economic situation in the United States, criticizing the Biden-Harris administration for rising prices on essential goods. Trump emphasized that Americans are feeling the impact of inflation directly in their daily lives, saying, “People are voting with their stomachs.”
Trump pointed out that under his presidency, gas prices were below $2 per gallon, whereas they have now surged to $5 per gallon or more under the current administration. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s attempts to lower gas prices, specifically the decision to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Trump argued that this move has only provided temporary relief while significantly depleting the nation’s energy reserves.
“We’ve never had it this low,” Trump said, referring to the reserve levels. “He’s using that to keep gasoline prices as low as possible. He’s sucked all of the oil out, essentially the gasoline, to keep the price down a little bit, and it’s had very little impact.”
Trump also expressed concern about the misuse of the reserves, stating, “You know, that’s meant for wars, it’s meant for tragedy. It’s not meant to keep gasoline prices down so that somebody can vote for Biden, or in this case, Kamala, who by the way is worse than Biden.”
Trump warned that the country could face severe economic consequences, saying, “We have a lot of bad things coming up. You could end up in a depression of the 1929 variety, which would be a devastating thing.”
