Moms for Liberty is hosting a summit in Washington, DC, next week, featuring a special fireside chat on Friday with co-founder Tiffany Justice and former President Donald Trump. Trump will also deliver a speech earlier in the day, and the fireside chat evokes the historic tradition of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “fireside chats” from the White House. Comedian Rob Schneider is scheduled to speak on Thursday.
Recently, Trump received an endorsement from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his own campaign and withdrew his name from the ballot in ten battleground states to support Trump. Schneider, a well-known comedian, has diverged from Hollywood’s progressive trends to criticize the direction of the Democratic Party and has also voiced his support for Trump. Like Elon Musk, Schneider is a strong advocate for free speech.
The Joyful Warriors Summit, organized by Moms for Liberty, aims to unify, educate, and empower parents nationwide to defend their parental rights and push for changes within the public school system. The event will run from Thursday, August 29, through Sunday, September 1. Since its founding just a few years ago, Moms for Liberty has grown rapidly, with 300 chapters established across 48 states. The organization isn’t limited to mothers; it includes parents, community members, and families dedicated to defending parental rights at all levels of government, from local to federal.
Trump has consistently advocated for returning control of education to the states and dismantling what he sees as a biased Department of Education. During his presidency, he fought for students’ rights, including ensuring due process on college campuses for those accused of misconduct. His administration, under Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, also filed a lawsuit against Connecticut for allowing boys who identify as female to compete in girls’ sports, arguing that this policy denies girls the opportunity for fair competition.
The battle over Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, which was reinterpreted by the Obama administration and later by the Biden-Harris administration to equate biological sex with gender identity, remains ongoing. This reinterpretation has allowed individuals who identify as a different gender than their biological sex to access sex-segregated spaces and opportunities previously reserved for the opposite sex.
Moms for Liberty is one of the groups that has filed a lawsuit against the Biden-Harris administration challenging this redefinition of Title IX. The case resulted in an injunction in several states, temporarily halting the new application of the law. Meanwhile, in states like New Hampshire and Virginia, families of boys who identify as female recently won legal battles to allow those boys to compete on girls’ sports teams.
