President Trump announced Saturday night that the United States (US) military has successfully bombed three key nuclear sites in Iran.
Trump confirmed on Truth Social Sunday that the U.S. executed a precision strike on three Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan—calling the mission “very successful.” He announced that all planes are safely back in U.S. territory, and emphasized: “Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
Shortly afterward, Trump shared imagery suggesting the Fordow facility had been completely destroyed.

According to Reuters, U.S. B‑2 stealth bombers led the strike, delivering bunker-buster Massive Ordnance Penetrators deep into the secure Fordow compound under heavy rock. Additional Tomahawk missiles struck Natanz and Esfahan. (washingtonpost.com)
This operation—codenamed “Operation Midnight Hammer”—involved over 125 aircraft and 75 precision-guided munitions, marking a bold escalation in U.S. support of Israel and a direct strike at Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Trump returned to the White House early that day to meet with his National Security Council in the Situation Room before giving final approval.
Earlier in the week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had greenlit attack plans on Iran but held off issuing the final go-ahead—waiting to see if Tehran would abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions.
While the U.S. hailed the mission as a major success—initial satellite images show “extremely severe damage” to underground centrifuge halls—critics in Congress and the UN warned it could breach international law and provoke a wider war.
Iran, for its part, launched missile attacks on Israel but has yet to retaliate directly against U.S. forces and is reportedly debating closing the Strait of Hormuz.
Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized that the goal was clear: neutralize Iran’s nuclear threat, not start another war. U.S. is also reinforcing forces in the region to deter any retaliation.
Domestically, reactions were split. Many Republicans applauded Trump’s decisive action, while some Democrats and constitutional conservatives questioned whether he overstepped Congressional authority.
Meanwhile, spontaneous anti-war protests erupted across America—even in solid conservative heartlands—though polls suggest a majority support taking tough measures against Iran’s nuclear buildup.
Defense contractors like Northrop and Lockheed saw modest stock gains as the strikes began; NATO has also moved to consider increased defense funding following Trump’s push for allies to boost spending.
He praised U.S. forces for the mission: “Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
