A U.S. Navy sailor attempted to access President Joe Biden’s health records “out of curiosity” but was unsuccessful, the Navy said on Tuesday, assuring that Biden’s medical records were never compromised.
In a statement, the Navy explained that in February, they were alerted that a sailor had attempted to search “Joe Biden” in the military’s electronic health records system.
A U.S. defense official, speaking anonymously, revealed that the sailor made three attempts to access the records within a few hours.
“The record the sailor accessed was not the electronic record of the President of the United States… (the) system is a secure health system and at no time was the President’s personal information compromised,” the statement clarified.
The sailor’s attempts were reported by a coworker, and the Navy concluded its investigation in April. The sailor received administrative punishment but remains in the Navy.
Biden is facing criticism from some Democrats regarding his mental acuity as he prepares to stand against Trump in the November 5 presidential election. Despite this, Biden has affirmed his commitment to his campaign, telling MSNBC via phone on Monday that he was “not going anywhere.”
